It is open on Sunday from May to October. I think it is until 16:00.
Was it a regular holiday? Sunday
Only some stores are open on Sundays. The so-called fresh fish store used by locals is closed.
There are a lot of shops selling. There is also a fish and eggs specialty store, and there is also a store where you can sample, so please buy delicious ones.
Yes, we have it
There seems to be no business on Sunday in July Below is the official website of the Japanese market I hope it will be helpful https://www.washoichiba.com/
Better to check the operating hours online before going. Not many stalls are open on Sundays.
There are various fishmongers. Though it is a hockey, things more than 500 yen to thousands of yen or more are also pincers, but I think that it was better to have tasted and bought it. There are also salty items.
Break time. First sale is 5 days, business hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM from January to March, Sundays are closed as a rule.
Today is not on bussiness.
Small but interesting place. Have our king crab
Buy a rice bowl and pick your own sashimi to add on. Katte-don. Interesting.
Great selection. Clean.
Interesting place. Foods are delicious and fresh. People are friendly and helpful. Tried melon, kattedon and crabs.
I love the local fish markets of Japan. This one has the bonus of selling rice bowls and choose your own toppings. Word of advice, get the seasoned/vinegar rice from the ladies towards the back by konbu stand. The building across the street has even more crab, veggies and dry goods.
Lots of fresh fish, locals also shop there
Awesome lunch with fresh sashimi of your choice!
Went on a Tuesday for a great lunch and walk around the market. Very accessible, and a fun experience. Either get a rice bowl with sushi from one of the various vendors, or eat at the ramen joint - all delicious. Then, shopped and took home some fruit/veggies and sushi along with some fried chicken and pork pieces for dinner at home. Free parking underneath. Enjoyable!
The place to go to for ultra fresh sashimi. If you would like to create your own kattedon, you have to get a bowl of rice first before heading over to the sashimi stalls. It's a tough decision what to have. I strongly recommend the scallop and sea urchin. 👍👍👍
Buffet-like choices of sashimi and they’re all fresh!
Great place for Crab
This nondescript building houses a very fun shopping experience. There are a couple dozen stalls of fishmongers, a few with fresh vegetables, a butcher, and the requisite soft cream shop (and a souvenir shop, too). At a couple of the fish stalls, you can buy a bowl of rice (from a separate stall) then build your own bowl of sushi by selecting from the incredibly diverse, delicious, and cheap selection of seafood. Kushiro as a city didn’t have a great deal of charm (from our drive-through perspective, to be fair), but the fish market was a surprise highlight of our 3-week road trip.
Great variety of seafood to create your own don. Reasonably priced and fresh produce
All of the sashimi was awesome! Its easy to order although they only understand japanese language, recomended!
It's a fairly small indoor fish market. The fish was good, although I think it would have been best to go there in the morning.
Excellent fresh seafood where you can purchase a bowl of rice with different portions available, and then you go around different stalls to buy the seafood that you like to create your own seafood don. There are tables and chairs in the market for you to eat this way. It also has convenient access from the railway station.
A great place. U can eat fresh love crab fish sashimi here. Stayed there for 2.5 hr. Ate so much for ¥8000 for 2 pax. The ice cream is great, made from 100% local. Will visit again if I ever come.
Many choices for sashimi-fixed.It’s like the market in Hakodate, indoors, or at the Nishiki market, or the Osaka’s Kuromon market. Or the one at Kanazawa. The ice cream store has good espresso ice cream!! But the cones were left in the open when served so not as crispy. This is the bigger nondescript white building, not the yellow low rise small trading market opposite. This white building has free parking at the back.
Crabs are incredible, which provide delivery service to Hong Kong, China, Singapore and so on. Sashimi is so fresh. Highly recommend.
It's the local seafood market for fresh seafood, with pricing more or less the similar if not cheaper than others I've visited in Japan. The seafood is fresh, but there are two parts in doing your own Katte-don (sashimi bowl), you got to get your rice bowl first before going to the sashimi stores. There are also ramen and other types of Japanese food along the outer ring of stores.Free parking at the building if you drive.
An amazing underestimated seafood market where you can make your own seafood bowl. You can purchase very fresh seafood right from the stalls. Unlike Aomori where you need to buy tickets, here, you can buy one piece or fifty. Highly recommended and a must visit when you are in Kushiro.
Overall really good food!
Great value fresh seafood. Buy off the stall and have it within the dining space of the market👍
Prices for crab are much cheaper here. Prices for dry scallops are also reasonable. Can bargain slightly. Recommended!
You will find fresh seafood at reasonable price here.
Great Japanese food here. Also, it's a blast to pick out the items to go on rice for a meal by shopping around at various food stalls.
Good seafood and some shop accept Credit card.
Delicious fresh seafood and other stalls for Japanese delicacies. You can purchase a Katte Don, which is a bowl of rice and then you can choose the sashimi you would like to top it with. At the rice bowl rice vendor you can pay a little extra for vinegar rice which is traditional for sashimi. Vendors were friendly and even gave us a little extra fish for free! Definitely try the hairy crab! There is also a vendor very close with cold beer and sake to wash down your oishii meal! 🍻
Sashimi are fresh. lots of shops will close at Sunday.
This market is around a 5 minute walk from the station at Kushiro. You could walk around for around an hour looking at everything and see interesting fish that you have not seen before. You can have your meal cooked by the sellers and they will do it the way that want it. At this market you are spoilt for choice and all seafood is delicious. Can choose from sushi, sashimi , crabs , octopus .
Worth to go but don't expect too much. The food is reasonably priced, fresh. Taste normal.
Fresh market is clean. You can order seafood and they will steam or grill it for you.
Make this your first stop when you come to Kushiro, not because it's a "must-visit" place or that the sashimi here is exceedingly delicious. But because its good to get this place out of your bucket list of places/things to do in Kushiro. It's one of those places you will just go once, and then you're quite happy that you've been there, done that but probably won't be back again. Well, for the price and variety of seafood that this place offers, it's a good deal, and the sushi restaurant onsite seems to be a hit with the locals too. I didn't particularly fancy the crab though, it's not as fresh as the ones I've had at similar places in Otaru or Hakodate, and way overpriced too!!!
Seafood cheaper than other big city. Not as crowded compare to other Hokkaido city. Worth coming if you are in kushiro.
Simple market in Kushiro where the specialty is the make-it-yourself kai sen don. Prices are reasonable and you can customise to your taste.
A little but touristy I feel, but still a cool place to check out with all the seafood and stalls
If you want sushime, fresh seafood.
Great place to see and experience all the types of seafood available from Japan you can get and even get a rice bowl with your choice of seafood!
Fresh seafood & lots of varieties
Very good 👍 place to go.
Great place to eat seafood. Lots of stalls selling all sorts of seafood and other local delicacies. One unique thing to try are the 'build-your-own' sashimi rice bowl stalls where you get some rice and select sashimi to put on top. The best thing to go for is any of the fresh crab stalls, they have precooked crab if you don't want to wait too long and don't mind it cold, but if you have time (40mins) definitely get them to select a fresh crab and steam it for you. And yes, you definitely want them to chop it up for you, they're much better at it.There are tables in the centre of the market where you can eat the crab with some hand washing stations.
Love that place!
Loved the Katte Don where we had the freedom to choose a wide selection of fresh sashimi on rice. King crabs here are also competitively priced (alive and cooked on the spot), so be sure to have it here instead of other crowded touristy towns that sell it for much higher prices!!
Fresh fish market for DIY seafood bowl. Visit their website to print discount coupon. Free parking at basement
Great place to have fresh seafood for breakfast. There’s free parking in the basement too
Nice and fresh seafood. Very value for money
Good place to have a fresh seafood meal. Choose your own sashimi and concoct your own seafood bowl.
Local wet market seemingly targeting tourist. Not a great place to buy anything but interesting spot to walk around.
delicious katte don (customizable seafood bowl)
Market famous of fresh seafood and sashimi rice which you can choose the toppings by yourself.
